At The World Rainforest Foundation our focus is preserving the unique and precious resources that abound in undisturbed natural rainforest land for future generations of the world.
Rainforest land provides countless benefits, including production of a large portion of oxygen needed on our planet. In addition, protecting the rainforest also preserves species and prevents destruction of animals that call the rainforest home.
Rainforests once covered 14% of the earth’s land surface; now they cover a mere 6% and experts estimate that the last remaining rainforests could be consumed in less than 40 years.
Did you know?
- 150 acres of Rainforest are lost every minute of every day, that’s 78 million acres every single year.
- Experts estimate that we are losing 137 plants, animal and insect species every single day due to rainforest deforestation. That equates to 50,000 species a year.
- More than the 20 percent of the world’s oxygen is produced in the Amazon Rainforest, also know as the “Lungs of our Planet.”
How can you help? By preserving 1 square foot of rainforest land, you can make a real and immediate impact in protecting this unique and amazing natural resource.
Preserving 1 square foot of rainforest:
- Guarantees that piece of the Rainforest will never be disturbed by mankind for eternity.
- Protects the millions of plants, animals and insect species that have yet to be discovered.
- Will allocate oxygen for our children and grandchildren to breathe.
